On the weekends the Newyorkers take their brunch. So did we. Every restaurant serves a special brunch menu from 12 to 4. You can choose from a big variety of dishes, that combine elements of breakfast and lunch. Pancakes, eggs benedict, fried chicken waffles, french toasts, burgers and so on, accompanied with a cocktail such as mimosa or bloody mary.
We had the privilege to live at an Astoria neighbourhood with many nice restaurants. At Shady Lady was where we first tried an american brunch and it absolutely earned our deep appreciation!
Another place that worths mentioning is Max Brenner. It is literally a heaven for the chocaholics. The brunch menu offers burgers, waffles, beverages, eggs always with a small or bigger chocolate touch. We ordered the lazy breakfast, aka eggs with mushrooms, home fries, sugar buttermilk biscuit and a pure melted chocolate lick on the side. We loved the latter so much that we asked for a second round! Next time that I travel to New York, I will definitely try the chocolate fondue.
